Audrey Anderson had her life figured out — until Zachary Peters showed up and turned everything upside down. Now, her picture perfect life is about to unravel, but the life she creates for herself from the ruins will be more beautiful than she ever imagined.

Review

This story caught me just by the title, it has everything I like. Soulmates. Love. Story (?). Love Story. Soulmates Story. A Love Story of Soulmates. A Soulmates Story of Love. I think you already understood. Eh? Metaphysical? Uuuuh- I’ve seen that word several times in the past, in different contexts, so I know what it means… barely. But don’t ask me! I’ll not remember if you do!

Ah~, this book showed me what I already was knowing about how a healthy relationship should be. And how a toxic one can be. I liked it in a higher sense. I have always loved the idea of soulmates, of reincarnation and every time be bonded to meet the same set of souls. Of be… destined for something beyond all of us. To love, and be loved, because that’s the real reason the universe is expanding.

This story not only made me happy, but also made me sad. Because life isn’t always pink color, and no matter if you found the right person, it doesn’t mean that is the right time. Yeah, I already told you, it’s sad. But what isn’t sad is that… this is just one life, one of the countless of the lifetime of your soul. This sadness is temporary, you were made to be happy, you were made to be loved. If not now, then in your next life. And even if you haven’t reached happiness already, it doesn’t mean that you will not meet it soon.

For above all, this book gave me hope.

Phrases that I liked so much that I marked them while reading

«in each life they live, they search for each other.»

— Prologue.

«T and Y are extremely difficult to separate once they’ve been together.»

— Prologue.

«She tried to ignore the way her heart fluttered when he spoke, but she soon realized there was no escaping the way he made her feel.»

— 3.

«And it wasn’t as though she’d thought of being with Zachary. She just wanted to be near him.»

— 3.

«In fact, he largely ignored her for the rest of their shift except to quietly remind her about a step she was missing or an ingredient she forgot. He would say it under his breath conspiratorially, his hand sometimes brushing her elbow to silently get her attention.»

— 4.

«“I just had this awful feeling about walking away from you. Like I was walking toward nothing… and away from everything.”»

— The Pirate.

«Y was called Ykara in this life, but Tomas called them Yisul-uh, a word roughly meaning “my other half” in the common language of their world.»

— The Rebel.

«She felt as if she was at the edge of a precipice, about to step out, not knowing where she’d land.

[…]

And it’s not what I thought it is, that’s not what it’s about
After all, it’s not an abyss; it’s just the clouds
And I know I can move through them if I make the leap right now.»

— 14.

«“It’s okay. Everything is okay. Let’s go home.“
“You came to
save me.”
“I will always come to save you, Audrey.”»

— 14.

«“But I don’t want to move on if it means not having you as my best friend. I’ll never not listen to you again.”

“I don’t believe for one second you’re going to never not listen to me again. But I will always be your best friend, through good and bad decisions alike. I know you’ll do the same for me.”»

— 14.

«It was raining cats and dogs, but it might as well have been all rainbows and sunshine for how she felt.»

— 14.

«“My immediate reaction was to jump over the counter and hug you like you were an old friend I hadn’t seen in years. But then I realized I had no idea who you were.”»

— 17.

«The truth was, one can often feel it when an end is approaching, even if they don’t yet recognize it as an end.

Thankfully, every end is soon followed by a new beginning — in this life, or in the next.»

— 18.

«“And this is not the end.”»

— 21.

«For in the span of eternity, a year or even a lifetime is but the blink of an eye, and true love doesn’t break character for such unimportant things.»

— 21.

«“The other day I imagined stabbing in the eye the next person who told me the ice machine was broken. Then at the end of the day when the machine didn’t break for once, I was actually disappointed I didn’t get to stab anyone in the eye.”»

— 22.

«It was true, he never doubted her. If he had been more selfish, if he had only asked her to stay, she may have never achieved her dreams. But because he loved her, he let her fly.»

— 25.

«Every movement either of them made seemed to bring them imperceptibly closer.»

— 25.

«and he joined her on the other side.»

— The Muse.

«I didn’t know that love could feel so sane»

— 26.

«“Don’t leave me.”
“I would never.”»

— 27.

«There is time to love and be loved in exactly the way your heart desires.»

— Epilogue.

«Finally, to anyone who has felt like the love they desire is simply too much for this world: This book is for you.»

— Acknowledgments.
